Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Bored Modder when you use this site or send in an order.

Last updated: June 27, 2026

The short version

By using the site or ordering, you agree to these terms. I do careful work, but repairs and mods carry some inherent risk — please back up your data first, since service can wipe it. I stand behind my workmanship for 90 days. Payments run through Stripe, returns follow my Refund Policy, and your info is handled per my Privacy Policy. Massachusetts law governs.

1. Acceptance of these terms

Bored Modder is a one-person, mail-in console repair, restoration, and mod shop, operated as a sole proprietorship based in Massachusetts. By using this website, placing an order, or sending in an item for service, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site or place an order. “I”, “me”, and “Bored Modder” all refer to the shop; “you” refers to the customer.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or have the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian) and able to form a binding contract to place an order or send in an item.

3. Products, services & pricing

I try to describe products and services and list prices accurately, but errors can happen. I reserve the right to correct any errors and to refuse or cancel an order — including after it’s placed — for example if an item is mispriced, out of stock, or the work turns out not to be feasible. If I cancel a paid order, I’ll refund it.

4. Orders & payment

Your order is an offer to buy; a sale is final only once I accept it. Prices are in U.S. dollars, and you’re responsible for any applicable taxes. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. For repair work, the bench/diagnostic fee is credited toward your repair total — it’s not an extra charge on top.

5. Shipping & risk of loss

For products, I ship to the address you provide. For mail-in service, you ship your item to me and I ship it back when the work is done. Please pack your item securely — you’re responsible for how it’s packaged on its way to me. I’m not responsible for loss or damage that happens in transit through the carrier, though I’ll help you with tracking and claims where I can.

6. Mail-in service terms

These terms apply when you send in a console or device for repair, restoration, or modding:

  • Authorization & ownership. You authorize me to perform the requested work, and you confirm you own the item or are authorized to have it serviced.
  • Data & backups. Service may erase, reset, or overwrite the data and storage on your device. Please back up anything important before sending it in — I’m not responsible for lost data, saves, or accounts.
  • Inherent risk. Working on electronics — especially older, already-damaged, or previously-modified hardware — carries inherent risk. I take reasonable care, but components can fail during diagnosis or repair. For higher-risk jobs I’ll talk it through with you first.
  • Bench/diagnostic fee. The bench fee covers getting your item onto the bench and diagnosing it. Once work has begun it is non-refundable, as described in my Refund Policy.
  • 90-day workmanship warranty. If a repair or mod I performed fails because of my workmanship within 90 days of the item being returned to you, I’ll redo that work at no charge. This does not cover drops, spills, liquid damage, misuse, unrelated or new issues, or work altered by you or a third party afterward.
  • Unclaimed items. If your item is finished or awaiting payment and, after I’ve attempted to reach you, it remains unpaid or uncollected for 90 days, it may be treated as abandoned and sold or recycled to recover my costs.
  • Lawful use. You’re responsible for ensuring your use of any device or software complies with applicable laws and third-party rights.

7. Returns & refunds

Returns and refunds are governed by my Refund & Return Policy, which is part of these terms.

8. Intellectual property

The content on this site — text, graphics, logos, and images — belongs to Bored Modder and may not be copied or reused without permission. If you submit a review, you give me permission to display it (with the name you provide) on the site and in related materials.

9. Acceptable use

Don’t use the site for anything fraudulent or illegal, don’t abuse or harass, and don’t attempt to disrupt, probe, or interfere with the site’s operation or security.

10. Disclaimers

Except for the 90-day workmanship warranty above and any rights that can’t be waived under Massachusetts law, the site, products, and services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without other warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. I don’t guarantee that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bored Modder’s total liability for any claim arising out of an order or these terms is limited to the amount you paid for that order. I’m not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits, or goodwill. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that can’t be limited under Massachusetts law.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Bored Modder harmless from claims, losses, and expenses arising out of your misuse of the site or services or your violation of these terms.

13. Privacy

Your use of the site is also covered by my Privacy Policy, which explains what I collect and how I use it.

14. Governing law & disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that can’t be resolved informally will be handled by the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts, and you agree to that venue.

15. Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. When I do, I’ll update the “Last updated” date above. Continuing to use the site or place orders after a change means you accept the updated terms.
