Privacy Policy

What Bored Modder collects, why, and what you can do about it.

Last updated: June 27, 2026

The short version

I collect only what I need to take your order, do the work, ship your item, and answer your questions — mainly your name, email, and order details. Payments go through Stripe, so I never see your full card number. I don’t run ad trackers, I don’t sell your data, and the only cookies I use are the essential ones that keep the site working.

Who we are

Bored Modder is a one-person, mail-in console repair, restoration, and mod shop, operated as a sole proprietorship based in Massachusetts. This policy explains how I handle your information when you use this website or send in an order. “I”, “me”, and “Bored Modder” all mean the same thing here.

Information I collect

Information you give me. When you place an order, request a repair or quote, track an order, or contact me, I collect your name, email address, the details of your order or repair (what console, what work, your notes), and shipping or return tracking information you enter.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, my server records basic technical information (such as the pages requested) to keep the site running. For visitor counts I use my own built-in analytics, which identify a visit using a daily-rotating, one-way hashed identifier — it can’t be used to follow you from one day to the next, and these analytics records are automatically deleted after 365 days.

Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are handled under their security standards — I never see or store your full card number. I keep a record of the order amount and payment status.

How I use your information

  • Take and process your order, repair, or quote
  • Send you transactional emails — order confirmations, status updates, shipping notices, and a post-order invitation to leave a review
  • Ship items to you and handle returns
  • Answer your questions and provide support
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security problems
  • Meet my legal, accounting, and tax obligations

I only send order-related (transactional) emails — I don’t run marketing newsletters or promotional mailing lists.

Cookies

I use only essential, first-party cookies — the ones that keep your shopping session and cart working, protect forms against cross-site request forgery, and keep the admin signed in. I don’t use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies, so there’s no cookie-consent banner to click through.

Who I share information with

I don’t sell your personal information. I share it only with the service providers I need to run the shop, and only as needed:

  • Stripe — to process payments
  • Resend — to deliver the emails I send you
  • Shippo — for shipping labels and tracking
  • My email and website hosting providers, which store this data on my behalf

I may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect my rights, safety, or property.

How long I keep it

I keep order and customer records for as long as I need them to provide the service and to meet legal, accounting, and tax requirements. My visitor analytics records are automatically deleted after 365 days.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and I take reasonable measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, though, so I can’t guarantee absolute security.

Your rights & choices

You can ask me to access, correct, or delete the personal information I hold about you — just email support@boredmodder.com and I’ll take care of it (subject to records I’m required to keep). Depending on where you live, including Massachusetts and certain other states, you may have additional rights over your personal information.

Children’s privacy

This site isn’t directed to children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided me information, contact me and I’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. When I do, I’ll change the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be reflected here on this page.
